So instead of class today, we had dancing lessons taught by Cinthia's, one of our instructor, husband, who I forgot the name of and who I believe is a professional dancer. We learned salsa, merengue, and some others, but I don't remember, nor do I really care. Now, if you know me, I don't dance, so needless to say, I was probably the most uncoordinated one in the class, but that's ok. I did dance for more than 3 steps before flopping, in fact I didn't flop at all. (and Henry, you did not just read that last sentence xP) So that you don't fall off your chair laughing at my uncoordinated dancing, I will spare you the injurious misery and only post

As if that was not enough dancing, it happened to be "Ladies' Night" at AMA Discoteca which we all got in as VIP, which was awesome as we got privileged access to the upper balcony. They also gave out free drinks from 11pm-12:30pm, in which I had a rum and coke which was too strong for me (see #1). Discotecas in Peru is a bit different than in the US
1) They pour very strong drinks in Peru.
2) People actually dance in "discotecas" where as people "have sex on the dance floor" in the US.
3) Apparently, "club" in Peru doesn't mean the same thing as "club" in the US. So when our homestay mom, Mama Rosa, asked me where we were going, I was very careful to say discoteca vs. club, or she would have had formed other opinions about us ladies ;)
4) The music is VERY VERY MUY MUY loud. Half of us felt our ears ringing the next day, and they didn't even have a live DJ
5) Something that a JS and I noticed (but is probably not actually true) is that the guys go to discotecas in pairs, one of the guys is really social and will ask girls to dance, the other just stands there awkwardly and watches their friend dance with a girl. I had that happen to me and I felt bad for "the friend" of the guy, so I tried to invite the other guy to dance too, but like all the other "the friend" he just stood there. It was quite amusing.
6) The AC in the discoteca was actually quite cold, and doesn't feel as stuffy as the US
Partial-group pictures before the dancing sweating began.
